These pages provide an overview of the Acacia and Prosopis provenance trials established under the FAO project "Genetic Resources of Arid and Semi-arid Zone Arboreal Species for the Improvement of Rural Living".
The overview is an output of a study commissioned by FAO to review, compile and synthesize results of the trials. It was carried out between September and November 2002 in collaboration with the Danida Forest Seed Centre.The content is largely based on extracts from existing documentation that have been produced by the project, with some additional interpretation.
The trials are the result of extensive collaboration between many countries as shown below and described in the next section. Shaded countries were sources of seed. The trials evaluated were in the coloured countries.
