The same 25 entries are tested in the trials in Block G and J. There are 21 sources of P. kesiya/P. yunnanensis and 4 controls. The seed lots are summarised in the table below.

Most of the seedlots originate from un-improved natural sources (collections in the natural forests).

The two seed lots from John Meikle CSO (Zimbabwe), the Zambia CSO seedlot and the two sources from Madagascar are improved sources. Little is known about the level of improvement of the sources from Madagascar, most likely the Bodana populations are seed stands, i.e. stands where inferior trees have been removed. The origin of the material is unknown. The two seedlots from John Meikle CSO originate from single clones. Seed from all the ramets of this clone in the orchard has been bulked and thus represent half-sibs where the male percentage is (theoretically) a mixture of all the other clones in the seed orchard. It follows that results have to be interpreted with great care as they do not represent the offspring of the seed orchard.

Seedlots 1624 (Baoshan), 1632 (Ceheng) and 1633 (Shangsi) are P. yunnanensis.

Because of its slow growth, it was decided not to include P. roxburghii in the assessment and analysis.
